Welcome to Lower College
We are proud of our dynamic and nurturing community. At Cheltenham Kuala Lumpur, your child will experience outstanding classroom education, a wide variety of opportunities in sports, music, and the arts, and exceptional pastoral support. Our holistic philosophy nurtures students through every stage, from childhood into adolescence.
Lower College begins at Year 7, where academic and co-curricular programs continue with a stronger focus on personal development. These additional two years allow students to develop leadership skills and a sense of responsibility. Rather than moving straight into Upper College after Year 6—where the shift can be overwhelming—our Year 7 to 11 students take on leadership roles within Lower College, equipping them for a confident, compassionate, and intellectually curious entry into Upper College.
We value giving students the time and space to fully engage with their learning. Our aim is to inspire them to tackle every challenge with open-mindedness, curiosity, and a sense of possibility.
Our commitment is to provide an outstanding education that inspires, challenges, and brings joy to your child—leading to meaningful conversations at home.
Students transition to Cheltenham Kuala Lumpur Upper College at the end of Year 11.

At Cheltenham Kuala Lumpur, we recognize the importance of a comprehensive education, which is why we offer an extended school day until 3:30 PM, with additional optional activities available into the evening. While many schools conclude their day earlier, our thoughtfully designed schedule ensures that your child benefits from a truly all-rounded educational experience.
Our dynamic curriculum is complemented by an extensive extra-curricular program, allowing every student to explore interests and talents beyond the classroom. This holistic approach not only enhances academic learning but also fosters character development, teamwork skills, and self-confidence.

Cambridge International IGCSE
The Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is one of the most acknowledged qualifications worldwide. Cambridge IGCSE courses are renowned for developing vital educational skills, including knowledge recall, oral skills, problem-solving, initiative, teamwork and investigative skills. The resulting qualification provides a foundation for higher level courses, such as Cambridge A level and AS Levels, of Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education;the North American Advanced Placement Programme and the International Baccalaureate. Cambridge IGCSE caters for different levels of ability with a choice between core and extended papers in many subjects. The core curriculum is based on an overview of the subject and is suitable for students who are expected to achieve grades C to G. The extended curriculum is more challenging and designed for students who are expected to achieve grades A to C. Grades achieved through either route possess equivalent value.
Life in Our Lower College
Co-curricular
At Cheltenham Kuala Lumpur, we offer a diverse range of extra-curricular activities. We believe that to fulfil our vision of providing every child with the best possible all-around education and care, enrichment activities and sports must be integrated into the curriculum during the school day.
The extended schedule ensures that every student can explore interests and talents beyond the classroom, fostering character development, teamwork skills, and self-confidence.
Cheltenham UK has a rich heritage of sporting success, with students competing in over fifteen different sports. This spirit of inclusivity is embraced at Cheltenham Kuala Lumpur, where students of all ability levels are encouraged to participate and compete. In addition to sports, our diverse range of school clubs allows students to explore their passions, develop new skills, and connect with peers who share similar interests. With access to exceptional sports facilities and vibrant extracurricular opportunities, every student has the chance to grow both academically and personally.
Academic Extension
We also believe in inspiring students to explore subjects in more depth. Our Academic Extension activities are an integral part of Cheltenham life and include society meetings, debating, educational trips and visits. The programme not only embeds a love of learning that will last a lifetime but also supports applications to universities.
Community and the Environment
Community service and charity work are integral to the ethos of Cheltenham Kuala Lumpur. Our students are encouraged to actively support both the local and wider Seeb community. The school buildings are purposefully designed to maintain a low carbon footprint, reflecting our commitment to sustainability. Students are taught to be environmentally responsible and engage in various projects focused on promoting sustainability and conservation. Involvement in activities to appreciate local flora and fauna further enhances the KL experience, fostering a deeper connection with the environment and a greater appreciation for the natural world.
Pastoral Care
The health and wellbeing of our students is an integral part of school life.
Making sure students feel happy, safe, and supported at school is the most effective way to ensure they fulfil their potential.
Pastoral care is the responsibility of every adult in the school. Their commitment is to foster a genuine and familiar sense of belonging so that each child is known individually and feels secure in every endeavour. This also enables us to identify when a little extra care and attention may be needed and act immediately.
We provide in house counselling and nursing care. In addition, safeguarding will be part and parcel of everyday life.
Central to our pastoral care is the partnership we develop with families. When your child joins the school, we begin the process of engaging in a continuous dialogue with you to ensure that care is collaborative, proactive, and personal.
Higher Education & Careers
We recognise that the education we provide helps to shape the adults that our students will become and the careers they will pursue.
This is why, from the very start, we focus on educating the whole person. We help the most able stretch and challenge themselves to prepare for the very best universities and we support those who find academic work more challenging to find the very best within themselves.
From Year 10 onwards, all students begin to work with our dedicated Higher Education and Careers specialist. In addition, our students have access to career talks from our network of staff, parents, alumni and industry contacts.
All of our students are supported through the choices they make during their school career. For example, IGCSE subject choices in Year 10.
